Look and style

Fine-tuning the style

Use Fine-tune, your own look, saved characters and your brand kit when creating, then adjust the style in the editor.

Last updated

Most style choices are made on the create screen, before you draft: the format card, the Style row under it, and the Fine-tune drawer. After the video is built, the editor's Canvas style panel and AI editing let you adjust what is on screen.

The Fine-tune drawer

Press Fine-tune below the Style row to open it. Each row only offers the answers your chosen format can use. Format-specific rows are covered on Whiteboard options, Drawn and Painted and Poster. These rows apply to several formats:

  • Drawing hand: Shown or Hidden, wherever a hand draws the video. Hidden removes only the hand; strokes and writing still appear.
  • Real photos: Drawn only (default) or Allowed. Not offered for Painted.
  • Story shape: Explainer, Walkthrough, Versus or Evolution. This changes how the story is organized, not how it looks.

Your own look

Your own look borrows the style of a picture you supply:

  1. In Fine-tune, press Upload a reference picture and choose an image, such as a frame from a video you like or artwork of your own.
  2. Every drawing is made to match its hand. Only the style is borrowed, never the subject.
  3. Your references are saved, so you can reuse them. On a later video, open the same control and choose Borrow my look for this video or Draw this video from the brief alone.

A recurring character

The Character row keeps one person consistent across scenes in Drawn and Painted videos. Describe them or press Suggest someone, and optionally Generate one or Upload a picture. Tick Save to my characters, to use in the next video to reuse them.

Saved characters are limited by plan:

PlanSaved characters
Free1
Plus10
ProNo limit

Whiteboard videos draw diagrams rather than people, and Poster scenes are drawn independently, so the Character row does not keep a person consistent in those formats.

Brand kit

A brand kit puts your logo, colours and font on every new video.

  • Set it up in Account, on the Brand kit tab, or press Set up on the Brand kit row of the create screen.
  • Per video, the create screen shows a switch: Use my brand kit or Not on this video. Press Edit on that row to change the kit without leaving the page.

The brand kit row appears for every format, including Cartoon skit.

On the plan step

Before you build, the plan lets you change some style choices per scene. Picture scenes have a Reveal menu (Auto, Uncover, Sweep, One thing at a time, Write on, Fade up), and list scenes have layout options. A Whiteboard video also has a theme menu that changes the board. See The plan step.

In the editor

The format is fixed once a video is built, but you can still adjust the style:

  • Canvas style panel ("Size, background, and visual style"):
    • Size presets: 1:1, 9:16, 16:9 and OG.
    • Backgrounds: Mesh, Blueprint, Low-poly, Constellation, Aurora, or None (flat fill).
    • An AI background: type into Describe a background….
    • Toggles: Animate edges, Bundle edges, Float nodes, Sketch style and Captions.
  • Transitions: click the chip between two scenes to choose Cut, Fade, Slide, Push, Aside, Wipe, Block or Morph, with a duration from 100 to 2000 ms.
  • Editing with AI: select an element and use quick chips such as More vivid, Simpler or Change color, or describe the change. See Editing with AI.
  • Redrawing a picture: see Regenerating scenes and pictures.
