Narration and voice
Re-voice in another language
Make a translated copy of a finished video, with its narration, on-screen text and voiceover in another language.
Last updated
You can turn a finished video into another language from the Projects page. Re-voice in another language… makes a copy with its narration and on-screen text translated and the voiceover recorded again. Your original video stays as it is.
Make a translated copy
- Go to the Projects page.
- Open the … menu on the video's card and choose Re-voice in another language…. This option is grayed out while the video is still building.
- Pick a language.
- If you picked Chinese, choose a Voice: A native speaker (selected by default) or This video's voice.
- Click Make the copy. The button shows Starting… while the request goes through.
You will see "Re-voicing into a copy:" followed by the copy's name, and a new card appears in your projects while it builds. When it is ready, it opens like any other project.
Languages
You can re-voice into any of these 12 languages:
English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic.
Arabic: the voiceover and captions are translated, but on-screen text is not laid out right to left yet. Check text-heavy scenes before you share the video.
What gets translated
| Part of the video | In the copy |
| Narration | Translated and recorded again |
| On-screen text | Translated |
| Captions | Follow the translated narration |
| Original video | Unchanged |
Because the result is a separate project, you can edit it like any other video: fix a line in the Narration panel and generate its voice again, or retype a label on the canvas. See Narration and voice and Edit a scene.
Things to know
- It counts as a project. The copy counts toward your plan's project limit (Free 3, Plus 5, Pro 20). If you are at the limit, delete a project first or see the pricing page for plans with more room.
- Cartoon skits are not supported yet. Skits keep a voice per character, and re-voicing a skit is not supported yet.
- Start a new video in a language from the beginning instead. If you have not made the video yet, choose the Language on the create screen. Every title and line is then written in that language from the start. See Narration and voice.
Review the copy
Watch the translated copy once before sharing it. Translated lines can run longer or shorter than the originals, and Fit Steps to Narration in the Narration panel lines the steps back up with the new voiceover.
Downloading and sharing the copy
The copy is shared and downloaded the same way as any other video. See Download your video and Sharing with people.
