Whiteboard options
Choose the board a Whiteboard video is written on, what sits behind it, and whether the drawing hand shows.
Last updated
A Whiteboard video is written on a board as you watch. When you pick the Whiteboard card on the create screen, the Style row asks which Board to use, and the Fine-tune drawer lets you choose what sits behind the content and whether the hand is shown.
Pick a board
| Board | What it looks like |
| Whiteboard (default) | "Paper, hand-drawn strokes, a marker writes it" |
| Blackboard | "Chalk on slate, written in a loose hand" |
| Greenboard | "Chalk on a classroom green board" |
| Blueprint | "Drafting sheet, even lettering, a drawn hand" |
A board is a whole look: the surface, the ink and the lettering arrive together. You do not pick the pen or the handwriting separately.
What sits behind the content
Open Fine-tune and use Behind them:
- Plain board: just the board.
- Hint of a place (default): a faint place behind the diagrams and lists.
- Painted place: a full painted place.
With Painted place, the painted scene covers the board itself, so the board you picked decides the pen and the handwriting rather than the surface.
Other Fine-tune options for Whiteboard
- Drawing hand: Shown or Hidden. Hidden keeps the drawn look and every stroke still appears; only the hand is never on screen.
- Real photos: Drawn only (default) or Allowed. With Allowed, up to two scenes may show a real photograph or a screenshot, mounted on a card, where the real thing explains more than a drawing would.
- Your own look: upload a reference picture so every drawing matches its style. See Fine-tuning the style.
- Pacing: Whiteboard videos are always Drawn on screen. The writing is the look, so there is no option to cut to finished frames.
The Character option has nothing to do for a Whiteboard video. A whiteboard draws diagrams and lists rather than people, so there is nobody to keep the same from scene to scene. If you want a recurring person, use the Drawn or Painted card instead. See Drawn and Painted.
Changing the board after drafting
On the plan step, a Whiteboard video has a theme menu that restyles the whole video when it is generated. Use it to switch the board before you press Make my video. See The plan step.
After the video is built, the editor's Canvas style panel offers a different set of backgrounds and options. See Fine-tuning the style.
